Terracotta & Quarry tiles can be very porous! If the wrong cleaning solutions are used on the tiles they will damage the existing sealant and penetrate straight into the stone, failing their main purpose. This is why Cleaning Time Derby only use solutions specifically formulated for terracotta & quarry tiles such as tile neutral cleaner.

A lot of homeowners tend to DIY-seal their terracotta or quarry tiles, applying coat upon coat of topical/polish sealant, which results in a heavy build up that sometimes is near impossible to remove. Grout lines can be a massive challenge for any DIY-terracotta or quarry floor cleaner if they are not equipped with the right machinery and appropriate floor knowledge.

Effective sealing can be a huge problem because of the high porosity of terracotta and some quarry tile floors. If the sealer is applied before the stone has properly dried out white damp patches can appear, resulting in compromised seal quality as well as overall appearance issues. This is why we allow two weeks for some terracotta and quarry tiles to dry out thoroughly.
